Read the passage and answer
:
I
was very scared of street dogs in the past. I used to run away on their sight
as a chill ran down my spine. One day, on my way back home, I saw a lady who was feeding the
dogs onthe road. I was surprised to see her care and affection for these animals.
I couldn’t stop myself from asking her why she cared so much for street dogs. She
calmly stated her reason—to serve God because he makes all creatures. She also
gave me many tips for getting friendly with the street dogs. She told me that
we should not try to touch the animal until it invites us. She also suggested
that we must build trust by speaking in low soothing tones, avoiding direct eye
contact and by offering it food. She also told me that she had put plastic
bowls outside her house for water and food. If they are provided for on a
regular basis, they become friends. Then they will not attack us, rather
Love
us. She told me that they bark at us because they are themselves afraid of us. Now
when I go out and see anyone ill-treating animals, or scared of animals, I pass
on the secret of getting friendly with them. I followed the suggestions given
by that lady and now when the dogs see me, they wag their tails with love. Let
us extend our care and affection to everyone around us. At the end of the day,
all living beings are God’s creation.

THE BEE
Bees live in a
house that is called a hive. There are three kinds of bees: workers, drones,
and queens. Only one queen bee can live in each hive. If she is lost or dead,
the other bees will stop their work. Bees are very wise and busy little
creatures. They all join together to build cells of wax for their honey. Each
bee takes its proper place and does its own work. Some go out and gather honey
from the flowers; others stay at home and work inside the hive. The cells which
they build are all of one shape and size, and no room is left between them. The
cells are not round. They have six sides. Did you ever look into a glass hive
to see the bees while at work? It is pleasant to see how busy they always are.
But the drones do not work. Before winter comes, all the drones are driven from
the hive so that they don’t eat the honey which they did not gather. It is not
safe for children to handle bees. Bees have a painful sting that they use in
their defence.
